An Election Year Psalm

Today's lectionary readings include Psalm 146, verses three and four of which read as follows in the NRSV:

Do not put your trust in princes,
in mortals, in whom there is no help.
4 When their breath departs, they return to the earth;
on that very day their plans perish.

We would do well to remember that on all sides of the political aisle.
